Sunday 2nd October was National Trails Day and Ards Council organised a guided walk through Whitespots Country Park ( or the Lead Mines as we knew it when growing-up ). It was rather a grey and misty day but warm and pleasant.
The guide, Ron, was concentrating on the geology and flora of the area but did stop to take note of some of the more traditional features of the Lead Mines.
Roy was a Most Excellent Dog on the 1.5 hour walk but did occasionally lie-down with a noticeable sigh.
Unfortunately no-one seemed to know much about the origin of what we called "Clandeboye Pond", but it still remains as still and mysterious as when I visited in my single-digit years.
