Weather station

The Lineum Weather Recording Station is now installed and active.

It's a Maplin N96GY, the same kit as the Fine Offset WH-1080 which is rebadged by about a dozen other weather station vendors.

The pole and equipment in the background is not related and in this view can be seen the rain gauge ( box on left ), temperature sensor, wind direction vane and anenometer.

And here is the first data extracted using pywws over the USB link:

 2011-12-26 20:51:00,30,63,22.9,81,12.1,1019.7,1.4,2.7,2,2.1,0 2011-12-26 20:56:00,5,63,22.9,81,12.0,1020.0,2.7,4.8,12,2.1,0 2011-12-26 21:01:00,5,63,22.8,81,12.0,1020.0,1.0,2.0,8,2.1,0 2011-12-26 21:07:00,6,62,22.8,82,11.9,1020.0,0.7,1.4,11,2.1,0 2011-12-26 21:12:00,5,62,22.8,83,11.9,1020.0,2.0,3.4,8,2.1,0

Now to decipher that lot and make a pretty web page...

The only grovelling I had to do was to create a new udev rule to assign the USB device node to the "shared" group for non-root access:

 bittern $ cat /etc/udev/rules.d/65-WH1080.rules SYSFS{idVendor}=="1941", SYSFS{idProduct}=="8021", MODE="0660",GROUP="shared"

Strangely it is enumerated as either a weather station or a missile launcher. Sadly the actual functionality appears to be restricted to the former:

 Bus 004 Device 010: ID 1941:8021 Dream Link WH1080 Weather Station / USB Missile Launcher

Update: Live data now available in basic format here.
