After 18 months the Kenwood BM450 bread maker has followed in the footsteps of its predecessor; some component of the drivetrain that turns the mixing paddle has failed, leaving us with this on a work-day morning:
Is that a reasonable lifetime for a domestic bread maker? With a minimum of five loaves per week plus occasional doughs, that was probably around 400 uses. Or 25 pence per use.
Thankfully there was a packet of Tesco part-baked baguettes in the freezer, to cover emergencies such as this.
